33 Powerful Verses from the Book of Psalms

The book of Psalms is one of the most enlightening books of the Bible. I love it because it shows that the ancient masters: Solomon, David, Asaph, and so on, – who rose to higher levels of consciousness – believed prayer works and perceived God as an individual spiritual entity. The masters believed God heard their prayers and helped them overcome difficulty.

Here are some of these masters’ verses I collected from the Book of Psalms while reading it.

  1. Psalms 1: 1 – 3 ‘Happy are those who do not follow the counsel of the wicked, nor go the way of sinners, nor sit in company with scoffers. Rather, the law of the Lord is their joy; God’s law they study day and night. They are like a tree planted near streams of water,  that yields its fruit in season; its leaves never whither, whatever they do prospers.’
  2. Psalm 2: 7 – 8 ‘I will proclaim the decree of the Lord who said to me, “You are my son; today I am your father. Only ask it of me, and I will make your inheritance the nations.’
  3. Psalms 2: 11 ‘Happy are all those who take refuge in God.’
  4. Psalms 3: 5 ‘Whenever I cried out to the Lord, I was answered from the Holy Mountain.’
  5. Psalms 8: 5 ‘What are humans that you are mindful of them, mere mortals that you care for them.’
  6. Psalms 11: 4 – 5 ‘God’s eyes keep careful watch; they test all peoples. The Lord tests the good and the bad.’
  7. Psalms 12: 7  ‘The promises of the Lord are sure.’
  8. Psalms 16:8 ‘I keep the Lord always before me. With the Lord at my right, I shall never be shaken.’
  9. Psalms 18: 21 ‘The Lord acknowledged my righteousness, rewarded my clean hands.’
  10. Psalms 18: 26 – 27 ‘Toward the faithful you are faithful; to the honest you are honest; toward the sincere, sincere, but to the perverse you are devious.’
  11. Psalms 19: 8 ‘The law of the Lord is perfect, refreshing the soul. The decree of the Lord is trustworthy, giving wisdom to the simple.’
  12. Psalms 23: 1 – 2 ‘The Lord is my shepherd; there is nothing I lack. In green pastures you let me graze; to safe waters you lead me.’
  13. Psalms 24: 1 -2 ‘The earth is the Lord’s and all it holds, the world and those who live there. For God founded it on the seas, established it over the rivers.’
  14. Psalms 25: 3 ‘No one is disgraced who waits for God but only those who lightly break faith.’
  15. Psalms 27: 4 ‘One thing I ask for the Lord, this I seek. To dwell in the Lord’s house, all the days of my life.’
  16. Psalms 27: 13 – 14 ‘But I believe I shall enjoy the Lord’s goodness in the land of the living. Wait for the Lord, take courage, be stouthearted, wait for the Lord.’
  17. Psalms 28: 6 – 7 ‘Blessed be the Lord, who has heard the sound of my pleading, The Lord is my strength and my shield, in whom my heart trusted and found help. So my heart rejoices; with my song I praise my God.’
  18. Psalms 30: 3 ‘Oh Lord, my God, I cried out to you and you healed me.’

  21. Psalms 33: 20 – 22 ‘Our soul waits for the Lord, who is our help and shield. For in God our hearts rejoice; in your holy name we trust. May your kindness, Lord, be upon us; we have put our hope in you.’
  22. Psalms 34: 5 ‘I sought the Lord, who answered me, delivered me from all my fears.’
  23. Psalms 34: 6 – 7 ‘Look to God that you may be radiant with joy and your faces may not blush for shame.’

  33. Psalms 40: 1 ‘I waited for the Lord; who bent down and heard my cry.’
